Since Firefox 3.5, you are able to choose what you want to do if you open an aplication like doc, pdf, audio, or film format file. You can save it, open it using favorite program or preview on browser using exiting plugin that comes with Firefox instalation. You can also set which program to open some url link like irc or mailto email link. On mailto link you can choose to use any installed email client, gmail, or yahoo mail.
How can I set Gmail or Yahoo as Default Email on Firefox?
- Open your Firefox (at least Firefox 3.5 or above) and go to Tools > Option
- Open Application tab
- On mailto content type choose which program you want to open when you click mailto email address
- You can choose another program if you’re email client doesn’t exist on the list.
- Click OK when you finish
Now, your choosen program will be launched when you click any mailto url with firefox.
